HULK SMASH!

The Incredible Hulk 2008The Incredible Hulk 2008. Five years ago there was a movie called Hulk, directed by Ang Lee and starred Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly and Sam Elliot. It flopped at the box office. Now we have a new Hulk movie titled The Incredible Hulk. This version is a reboot to the Franchise and follows more of the television series and comic book. It stars Edward Norton as Bruce Banner on the run from the US Army whilst trying to find a cure for his anger management problems. Also starring Liv Tyler as the love interest Betty Ross, William Hurt as her no nonsense father General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Tim Roth also stars as Emil Blonsky, who later becomes the monster known as the Abomination.

About the Film, as a comic book fan this movie is the hulk film we all have been waiting for. The pacing of this film is really fast; the origin of the hulk is dealt within the opening titles. There wasn’t a moment where I would think, “I wish the Hulk would turn up.” The action is really well done and gets better and better through out the film. The final climatic battle was very well staged and better than Iron Man’s and longer too. The acting was great; I did believe Ed Norton was Bruce Banner. William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross was also a great performance.

The CGI for this movie I thought was an amazing improvement over the previous film. The Hulk is darker shade of green and actually looks like Hulk, you can see the reflexes in the muscle and his height stays consistent through out the movie. As I said earlier about the final battle was well staged this includes the GCI. The camera stays focused on what is happening and not shaking like in Transformers. Overall I really enjoyed this movie not as good as Iron Man but very close. I will give it 8 out of 10.

P.S. Comic fans keep your eyes peeled for references to a certain Super Soldier and a Cameo at the end of the film. You will be so glad you did.
