David lives with his father. His mother left when he was 5. At the age of 15 he discovers he can jump, anywhere, anyplace, alone or with someone or thing that he touches in the present day. David goes to New York where he decides to rob a bank using his power of jumping. This gets Roland on the case and he’s out to get him.
Roland is not a jumper, he and his fellow men believe all jumpers that exist are evil and must be destroyed. They have a machine which can locate jumpers, then they have to act quickly to kill them before they jump again.
David decides to go see his high school sweet heart, it’s been 8 years since he’s been home but she still holds a candle for David. David explains to Millie of his power and she asks him to take her to Rome as she would love to see the Colosseum. Here David meets up with Griffin who tells him that Roland will kill him when he finds him so fellow jumper Griffin and David set out to get Roland before he gets them. Many close conflicts follow with the jumpers and the NSA. In the pursuits that follow David encounters his mother who is also a jumper but unfortunately for David, Mary is on the side of Roland who has already killed David’s father.
This a very fast and furious action packed film, with fantastic visual effects and supurb scenery.
Samuel L Jackson as always excellent performance.
The cliffhanger finish was a bit disappointing but does leave way for a sequel.
